It is through truly indulging in the light that I feel the light of my spirit. I notice when I do this through music, through reading, writing, events, church, people, the light in nature, even thoughts and words etc. I then drop into myself and become the truth of who I am. This feels amazing, so much better than any other experience I can have. I had a message come to me while praying recently that I need to simply pray the light, the good, the positive for people, or myself, not pray against the dark. That praying against the dark brings me into the dark, and brings it into my reality. This I do not want at all. So I was told while praying to only pray the positive.
Now the questions beckons, what do we do with pain, or things we need to face that are negative. It is no good pretending it's not there, or trying to cover it up, or denying it. None of this works. This is how addictions are created. People who don't know how to constructively deal with their negative feelings often become dependent on alcohol, or drugs, smoking, sex, food, TV, even exercise.
In fact if we do this often our body starts to have weird symptoms, or we injure ourselves or get some kind of illness as a way of communicating our pain when we are either not aware we have pain, or are trying to deny it. Often our body will try to communicate our pain or wounds for us.
So denial is not the answer. However, neither is spiraling down into the dark, or being drowned by negativity. It has taken me years to figure out how to deal with negative emotions or experiences in a positive constructive way, healing with light you might say. I am still working this out.
What I have learned to do is; give the negativity a voice to say what I feel, or felt and then ask that part of me what it needs to feel better. I offer it love and light, and truly this transforms it. One of the reasons I am a follower of Jesus Christ is because He also offers healing and restoration through His Light and Love.
Any part of us, that has been hurt in some way may need to say the feelings to be clear and get them out, but then does not need to be stuck there, but actually needs the love that we needed originally. Truly this is the best thing we can do for ourselves. There are those that tell us we must stay in the dark for eons to heal, but actually this is what hurt us in the first place and exactly what we do not need to do now. We need to fill ourselves especially the wounded or hurt parts with as much love and light as possible.
I now fill all parts of me with the beautiful light and love of God. I especially give the light to the parts of myself that need it the most.

Doing Good Is It's Own Reward
I went through an experience recently where I did good deeds for someone, and was still not treated very well. It made me realize that when we do good, we do attract good back, but not always from the person we do good to. Sometimes we can do the right thing, or the good thing and that person based on the level of goodness they live on, may still not appreciate us, and may even do us wrong.
This happened to Jesus and Joseph Smith all the time. Think about how Jesus came here, to save, heal, love, guide and atone for the sins of the very people who persecuted Him and killed Him. Joseph Smith restored Jesus's church, and brought the full Gospel, and restored the Kingdom of God on earth for the very people that also persecuted and killed him. So it could look like they did such good, yet were given back abuse, pain and even death. Where is the justice in this? What happened to we reap what we sow?
Ultimately in life I know that when we do good, we do reap the good rewards. One of the rewards is the happy, peaceful feeling we get from doing good. Truly doing good deeds fills us with the Spirit of God, and fills us with the Light.
This in itself makes it worth it. There is no greater happiness than living righteously. Also, I have noticed that I do get blessed sometimes not by the person I have blessed but by others, in quite surprising ways. The more good we do, the more happiness we fill ourselves up with, the higher level we live on. We make our souls very happy when we do good, when we do what is right. There truly is no greater gift we can give ourselves, there is no greater form of self love we can bestow upon ourselves than doing good, and doing what is right.
I seek to do good, do what's right when it is before me, knowing that as I do this, I am not only blessing others, but blessing myself as well.
