Faith

I woke up thinking about Faith.  It is through our faith that we experience the reality of Heaven.  When I say heaven, I mean all the power, truth, love, presence, light of God and His Kingdom.  Now why do we need our faith?

Well our five senses help us to experience this world, and this is all we get to experience unless we exercise some faith.  When we do, it is as if we are turning on the light of the Spiritual world.  It is there all along, in its spiritual glory and wonder, but we can only see and feel it if we put our hand on the knob and turn.  That is faith, and it is said we only need the faith of a mustard seed, which is really tiny, so we don't need to do much, but even a tiny act of faith turns on the light.

Now much like the dimmer lights in our house, the more we turn, the brighter it gets.  Our faith is similar, the more faith we exercise the brighter the light gets, the more of Heaven and God we get to experience.

We exercise faith by:  praying, reading scripture, getting Blessings, going to the Bishop for counsel and/or blessings, asking for prayer, tithing (especially when we are feeling concerned about money), doing our callings, and our visiting and home teaching, preparing a lesson or a talk about something we are needing to learn about, praying for someone who seems incredibly lost in the dark.  Reading spiritual literature, watching a spiritual movie.  Listening to spiritual music.  Also, turning off the TV or movies, putting down books, newspapers, magazines, turning away from the internet, stopping thoughts or words that are not of God.  These are just some of the ways we express our faith.  There are many more.  But all it takes is a small step, and we begin to turn the light of Heaven on in our lives!

Today I use my faith to turn on the beautiful and glorious light of Heaven in my life.  I radiate this light into the world, so I feel incredibly happy, and so others may see it and feel it and perhaps begin to seek it for themselves.
